HK Express Airways marks a significant milestone today with the official relaunch of its Hong Kong-Hiroshima Airport (HIJ) service, restoring a vital link between these dynamic cities and opening up seamless travel opportunities for eager explorers!
“As Hong Kong’s only low-cost carrier, HK Express delivers affordable travel options with comprehensive coverage across Japan, enabling passengers to explore multiple cities while embracing our ‘Live More' philosophy,” HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao said.
The continued popularity of Japanese destinations among travellers motivates us to strengthen our presence in the Japanese market. “Through collaborative efforts with our partners, we’ve successfully reinstated the Hiroshima route – one of three routes to Japan launched by HK Express this year – offering travellers direct access to the city’s attractions and nearby regions. The market response following the route launch has been remarkable. To accommodate the growing demand, we will boost our service frequency to four weekly flights starting from January 2025.”
“Hiroshima has garnered recognition across the globe. As part of the Cathay Group, HK Express serves as a vital link, connecting international travellers to Hiroshima through our group’s widespread network, bridging this remarkable city to a broader global audience,” Jeanette added.
HIROKUMA, an adorable mascot introduced by the Hiroshima Tourism Association, made a special appearance in Hong Kong last month, mingling with HK Express team members and spreading joy across the city. The lovable character won the hearts of many while handing out Hiroshima's signature lemon candies to passersby, with some succumbing to the irresistible chance for selfies with their new fluffy friend. Missed the fun? Hop on an HK Express flight to Hiroshima, where HIROKUMA might just be around, waiting to welcome you with open paws!
Hiroshima, a tranquil city with an enticing mix of history and nature, is located in the southwestern part of Honshu, facing the Seto Inland Sea. The Itsukushima Shrine and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – are world-renowned spots to visit. Local culinary delights are a must-try, and travellers can also venture out to nearby cities such as Onomichi and Yamaguchi for more. As a travel haven, Hiroshima will not disappoint.
The HK Express leadership team took photos with passengers and distributed souvenirs at Hong Kong International Airport to celebrate the inaugural flight of the resumed Hiroshima route.
HK Express held a simple but grand inauguration ceremony at Hiroshima Airport.
